One-Day Funday - Midlands
In brief:
1st August, 10-12: Our first East Midlands summer meet-up for families interested in AAC, at the Refectory Café, Lincoln, LN1 3DY.
8th-9th September: We're at Communication Matters Conference, Leeds University.
11th October, 10-5: We're celebrating our 25th Birthday at the Midlands Arts Centre, but we need your help!
Thank you!
Firstly, thank you to everybody who expressed an interest in 1Voice events in the Midlands - we've had some insightful conversations and linked up with some fantastic people. It's been great to hear from all of you over the last couple of months and hear about the projects and spaces you're already involved in.
1.8.25: East Midlands
Following these discussions, we're proud to announce the first East Midlands 1Voice AAC Meetup, taking place on Friday 1st August, from 10am-12, at The Refectory Café Bishop Grosseteste University, Lincoln LN1 3DY.
Please tell people you know, or other families who might be interested in AAC. I've attached a flyer with more information.
Book Here: https://www.1voice.info/events - please let us know that you're coming so we have an idea of numbers.
8-9.8.25: Leeds: Communication Matters
We're also presenting a lightning talk and exhibition stall at the country's largest international AAC conference in Leeds, Communication Matters - get in touch if you think you'll see us there! We'll be talking about some of our Midlands projects.
11.10.25: Birmingham Funday
We've booked the Midlands Arts Centre for our 25th Birthday party in the West Midlands. We're planning to be there on Saturday, 11th September, with a pencilled time of 10-5.
However, we now need your help! Running the national weekends and AAC fundays is always an incredible amount of work, and we're looking for the following to make it happen:
Guests!
Where would we be without you? We'll be opening bookings on our website very soon, so please look out for the link, save the date, and tell other families that you know. The funday is open to anybody who uses AAC or is just interested in it, and we're hoping to reach loads of new families in the West Midlands - so getting the message out is vital!

Volunteers!
We're always grateful for the help that people give us to run events, and it's a great way to meet new people in the world of AAC and see what's out there.
We're looking for volunteers to help plan the Funday beforehand, or to help out on the day - greeting people, chatting with families, and helping with any planned activities we have on (Watch this space!).
https://www.1voice.info/volunteers has more information about volunteering.
So, we've got some dates, but now we need your involvement. Do you want to help build up the AAC community in the Midlands? Please get in touch to let us know how you'd like to be involved - we want to hear from you.
