1Voice Lakes & Bay Event

1Voice Lakes and Bay last met face to face for our Christmas party in 2019. It was a great event but little did we know that would be the last meet up for 3 years. We kept in touch with each other and what was happening with 1 Voice via our Facebook page but little else until a number of us attended the 1 Voice online Christmas party in December last year which was not only a party but a chance for local groups to get together and plan for the future. During the time we were not able to meet it would have been 25 years since the group started (which was before our link up with 1 Voice) so it was sad to have missed that.

We finally got together in April this year. We went to the Lakeland Visitors Centre near Kendal. The weather was not kind to us so we had to stay in the café although I am not sure that was too much of a hardship. There were 18 of us in total which included 6 AAC users. On this occasion everyone knew each other so we were able to have a good chat and catch up as well as eat some delicious food. We were also thinking about what we want to do next. Our next event will be some time over the summer. Most of the people who attend our activities are from the Lakes and Bay area which tends to be north Lancashire and any where in Cumbria but anyone is welcome wherever they come from.
