Who we are and what we do

1Voice – Communicating Together held its first event in December 2000, a family weekend in Blackpool. The families there said that, "1Voice is a MUST" and the organisation has been growing ever since.

We became a registered charity 2001. In 2010 1Voice became a Charitable Company Limited by Guarantee, Company number 07480160, registered charity number 1141886.

1Voice supports children, adults, families, carers and other supporters through:

We currently hold two events a year, but increasing demand means that smaller, local groups are forming, meaning more events for more people. Check the home and branches pages for updates.

Our events aim to cater for all members of the family including brothers, sisters, parents, partners, grandparents, cousins and friends. Some families like to bring along their Teaching Assistant, Speech & Language Therapist or other interested professional.

Role Models

It is incredibly hard work to learn to use a communication aid. Our team of Role Models successfully use AAC in their lives. Role Models help to run 1Voice. At events, Role Models are vital, not only for motivating the children and young people, but also for raising expectations of families and professionals.

Teenagers' Support

Workshops allow teenagers to develop their thoughts, ideas and skills. We hope they will choose to be 1Voice Role Models in the future!
