Bendrigg Weekend 20th Anniversary

1Voice Lakes and Bay celebrated our 20th birthday at Bendrigg Lodge.  We did lots of exciting things like climbing, abseiling, canoeing, indoor caving, zip wire, archery, cycling and also chilling in the sensory room.

We also had plenty of time for everyone to chat and had a special birthday cake.

Animal Party for Party Animals

1Voice SE

On Sunday June 26, AAC users and their companions got close and personal with a menagerie of exotic creatures, including a ballet dancing 3 ringed armadillo, a baby owl suffering from stage fright (well, it was his first performance), a less than fragrant skunk, a lizard with oral hygiene issues (his tongue was blue) and a creature called Esio Trot (leave you to guess what that was) and many others, including Ashley their handler, who was great.

After that, they (the AAC users) enjoyed creating and naming their own animal families and having a good old chinwag (or talker wag?).

To quote one participant "Quite wonderful, more please"

Lakes and Bay Steamer Trip

We had a great day today on Windermere and at the Village Inn in Bowness. The weather was beautiful. Windermere Lake Cruises very generously gave us a free boat trip again and lunch was good too! Everyone had plenty of time to chat on the boat and over lunch. Two members of the public particularly showed great interest in 1Voice and AAC with possibly at least one new member!

1Voice West Midlands Go Wild!

Our brave 1Voice West Midlands children, families, school staff and role models enjoyed a wild day out at the West Midlands Safari Park. We had hands on encounters with a huge land snail, corn snake, chinchilla, tenrec (hedgehog) and a skunk!!! We followed this with an animal quiz, before taking the Discovery Trail and finally watching the sealion show. What a fun-filled day. 2 of our role models were pooped on (by a bat and a lorikeet) – although that is supposed to be lucky!!!

You can see all the photos here on our Facebook page.
