The theme for Blackpool 2008 was Pantomime.

Oh No It Wasn't!!

Oh Yes It WAS!

On Friday 29th November, families travelled from across the UK to Blackpool, to take part in our 9th Family Winter Weekend. We welcomed a number of "new" families as well as seeing old friends.

On Saturday, our strong team of volunteers and Role Models joined forces with our workshop leaders, Laura and Andy from Equal Voices, to run motivating and fun workshops for the children and young people. Meanwhile, the parents attended workshops. We were glad to welcome back 2 teenagers from the summer's teenage project, who talked with parents and children about their experiences and their journey towards becoming 1Voice Role Models.

On Saturday evening, fancy dress was the order of the day, and a full pantomime cast came for our dinner, performances and disco. First, came Widow Twanky.

Followed by further characters from pantomimes specially written for the talented 1Voice company.

Everyone enjoyed the fabulous performances (with traditional booing, hissing and singalongs). Thankfully, at the end of the day, Cinderella was saved and the Gloom Spell was lifted from the Forest to free the woodland animals.

The full cast took a bow before they headed off the for disco.

On Sunday, families gave feedback and enjoyed some free time together before taking part in the scavenger hunt and then heading home.

It was a wonderful weekend.
